Rangers Europa League round of 16 draw confirmed, get the flights booked to Portugal Rangers

The last 16 of any European competition is never easy, and Rangers have learned their fate in this year’s Europa League.

The two ties will be played on March 7th and 14th, with Gers manager Philippe Clement enjoying the luxury of having the second leg at Ibrox after leading a patchwork side to win against Real Betis on matchday six of the group stage.

Rangers will meet Benfica in the Europa League’s last 16 after being picked from among the eight unseeded clubs.

Whoever said the Europa League is second-tier hasn’t paid attention.

The competition continues to feature strong teams from England,

Spain, Italy, Germany, France, and Portugal.

In reality, the teams that presently lead the Premier League and Bundesliga,

as well as the squad that is only one point behind second in Serie A, are still competing.

The number of goals in the play-off round was nearly double that of the Champions League last 16 this week.

This is the competition to participate in.

Rangers have not been in this position since Giovanni van Bronckhorst led the team to the Europa League final.

We were also in a title chase back then, but we ran out of both bodies and steam.

Philippe Clement must strike the correct balance this season, and the Rangers currently have a deeper squad available.

For example, there are players like Leon Balogun and Oscar Cortes who will play important roles domestically but are not in the Europa League team.
