The biggest teams in the Premier League are known to want the best young players in the Gers’ system, and it looks like Academy

standout Alexander Smith will soon finish his journey south.

This is according to the Scottish Sun, who claim Arsenal are “on the brink” of completing a deal for the

young midfielder, who is regarded as one of Rangers’ brightest talents.

Arsenal closing in on Alexander Smith

Alexander Smith is a Scottish young international who played for one of the USA’s youth teams in the past,

giving him connections to the country’s setup as well.

Arsenal is rumored to have been “tracking” the young midfield player, who excelled for Rangers in the East Mallorca Cup in Spain,

winning four Player of the Match honors from five games.

Brazilian sporting director Edu is expected to be busy firming up the squad of the Premier League title contenders and securing the

future of the Alexander Smith would be considered a major win.

Whilst the report claims Rangers are set to bank a “six-figure” fee for the youngster,

it is not clear exactly how much the Ibrox side stand to earn for developing the kid.

Premier League’s eyes on Rangers Academy

Rangers are accustomed to having some of the greatest young players in the South American region

stolen from the Academy by elite clubs.

The most notable example is unquestionably Scotland international Billy Gilmour, a midfielder who plays for Brighton after making

waves in 2017 when he went to Chelsea for £250,000.

Only the previous summer, Rangers also lost their prolific teenage scorer Rory Wilson, who reportedly paid £350k to join Aston Villa.

Nevertheless, Rangers has had considerable success in this area in recent years.

Although Rangers has persisted in persuading the defender Leon King that he has a bright future at Ibrox, he has been frequently

linked to moves to teams like Manchester United.

In the midst of much-publicized interest from teams like Manchester City, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, West Ham, and even Real

Madrid, midfielder Bailey Rice also agreed to a contract at Rangers.

Ross McCausland, a young player who has advanced to start for the first team this season,

just inked a new deal amidst rumors that he was linked to St. James’ Park.
