Rangers sensation Alexander Smith could be blocked from making a move away from Ibrox after an update has emerged, according to Andrew Visnovsky.

On Thursday (22 February), The Athletic journalist Tom Bogert tweeted that the “highly rated” 15-year-old,

who is an American and Scottish dual national, is garnering interest from Premier League and Major League Soccer clubs.
Responding to the tweet,

football lawyer Visnovsky stated that the midfielder is unlikely to transfer to a US academy before the age of 18 unless his parents make a non-football-related move, although he can go to an English team when he turns 16.

Rangers will want to keep hold of Alexander Smith.
Rangers fans will undoubtedly be concerned, as it looks that other clubs outside of Scotland are interested in signing Smith.

The teenager is certainly highly regarded at Ibrox, and he is exactly the type of player they like to see move into their first team in the future.

The Gers want to make a more concerted effort to provide a path for their top young players to carve out a successful future at the club.

However, in order to accomplish this over time,

they must keep those players in Glasgow and be able to exploit those potential success stories to bring in additional young talent.

It appears that nothing can happen to Smith until he reaches the age of 16,

but the Light Blues will undoubtedly be discussing how to keep him.In other Rangers news,

a Gers loanee has had his work visa concerns resolved, allowing him to make his debut.
