Everton star set to miss ‘ rest of season ‘ in major blow for Sean Mark Dyche

In an official post, the Premier League mocked Everton‘s appeal against their points reduction.

On Thursday (22 February), the league tweeted an image of the top-flight standings on Twitter,

with an asterisk next to the Toffees’ name and a message regarding their 10-point deduction at the bottom of the graphic.

It comes as the Blues are still waiting to hear back on their appeal against the verdict, which has been dragging on since November.

There was unsurprisingly a strong reaction from Everton fans to the message, with many seeing it as the Premier League having a laugh at their expense.

There is no reason why it has taken so long to get a fresh ruling because this is only an appeal, not a complete court case.

The Toffees need to know where they stand on the issue since it could be the difference in selecting which league they will play in next season. According to The Athletic,

Everton will likely focus their appeal on several major issues, including the disproportionate nature of the sentence, considering that it is the highest in Premier League history,

as well as a lack of clear justification for how they arrived at the 10-point amount.

Furthermore, the Toffees say that mitigating circumstances such as their new stadium project,

the impact of the war in Ukraine, and their recent upward trend in expenditure were not given enough consideration.

David Ornstein recently provided an update on the situation, stating that the expected timeline has always been the end of February. Everton in an extremely difficult scenario because they don’t know where they are in their league.
