BREAKING NEWS : Rangers will pocket £17million as Key player agree terms with La-Liga club
According to Yakup Cinar, Ridvan Yilmaz wanted £1.7 million to join Galatasaray from Rangers during the January transfer window.
On Monday (5 February), the Yeni Acik journalist revealed in a YouTube video that the 22-year-old had sought the money, which is roughly double his current pay at Ibrox.
Rangers demanded £4.3 million for Yilmaz’s permanent transfer, but were willing to consider a loan deal with the option to buy at the end of the season.
Rangers get benefits for an unsuccessful move.
Despite recent transfer speculation about Yilmaz, the full-back has progressed under Philippe Clement and appears to be at ease at Ibrox.
During the transfer window, the player scored against Hibernian and assisted against Kilmarnock, underlining his value to the Gers.he is to the Gers. His three most recent games have also included clean sheets.
Even with Borna Barisic in the lineup, Yilmaz appears to be the starting left-back, and given the failed signing of Jefte from Fluminense last month, his value is higher than ever.
Clement made it clear he wanted a new fullback. Despite this public revelation, Yilmaz’s professionalism throughout the scepticism and rumors was unrivaled.
Rangers would have been in a difficult situation if their star left-back had left without a viable replacement. Dujon Sterling would be the most likely cover, though he seemed to be more at ease in midfield today.
The Ibrox side appears to be benefiting from the Turkish defender’s attempted sale to Galatasaray. It will be interesting to observe if Clement has modified his mind about buying a new full-back this summer, or if Jefte will be back on the club’s radar.
