Gordon Parks criticizes Rangers player James Tavernier, saying he lacks the ‘aura’ to be captain.

Journalist Gordon Parks has slammed Rangers striker James Tavernier,

saying he lacks the “aura” and “personality” to be captain of the Ibrox side.

During an appearance on PLZ Soccer (21 February),

the Daily Record journalist recalled seeing the defender stroll into Five Guys for a burger in Glasgow.

And Parks believes that his lack of aura was on display for all to see on that occasion,

demonstrating that he is not the proper man to be the Bears’ captain.

“I was in Glasgow city centre a couple of days ago,

literally an hour after full-time whistle,” he told reporters.

“A large Jeep pulls up outside Five Guys.

“Tavernier takes out of his Rangers tracksuit and jacket and goes to Five Guys for a burger.

“I agree with what you’ve stated; he’s technically a very good player.

However, he lacks both aura and personality. He’s walking nondescriptly into Five Guys.

“If it was Richard Gough, Barry Ferguson, or a Greig at the time, you didn’t go to Five Guys for a burger,

He scores beautifully, but I believe he lacks the seriousness that comes with being the club’s captain.

Gordon Parks cannot be serious about being Rangers captain.

There are plenty things to blame Tavernier about,

and whether he is the appropriate man for the captaincy has been debated in recent months.

But if you feel that this is a justification for that to be proven accurate, you’re as insane as Parks,

because it has no basis in reality.

The most significant difference between Tavernier and the players named is the existence of social media

, which has brought players much closer to fans and made them significantly more accessible.

Aside from that, he’s not Scottish or a lifetime Rangers supporter,

so he doesn’t have the same connection with the people as they have.

In the end, it means nothing that he wasn’t mobbed after a game in public.

He is the proper man to lead the current squad, and if he wears number 56 this season,

everyone will stop doubting him.

In other Rangers news, the club could be ready for a seven-figure windfall following recent player comments.
