Gers are set to bank £1.2m from the transfer of £24,000 PSV Star
PSV are prepared to spend £12 million to keep Malik Tillman at the club, after the player intimated that is where his future lies.
Rangers will receive a large portion of the profit as part of their arrangement with Bayern Munich. Tillman was a bright spot in an otherwise bleak season last year,
and the Gers had initially agreed on a purchase option with Bayern. However, the Bundesliga winners paid £1 million up front and agreed to pay 10% of any future sale.
Given his strong recent success with PSV, that appears to be a sound investment from an Ibrox standpoint. The 21-year-old USA international has been in great form this season, scoring five goals and providing eight assists. He helped PSV draw with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg this week and appears to be on track to make the loan permanent next season.
PSV will pay roughly £12 million to keep him, with Gers poised to receive 10% of that, or £1.2 million. Tillman stated, “For me, it always boils down to playing time or prospects.” Hopefully next summer, I’ll look back at the second season in which I regularly played at a high level after being at Rangers last year.
“That is how I want to see it continue. The environment is very pleasant. We’ve gotten incredibly close as a team. Everyone enjoys themselves, even the manager and the workers. We just enjoy playing football, and you can see it in us.
“I also believe we play really attractively. Peter Bosz has a certain plan, which we try to follow. It’s all about intensity, both with and without the ball.
Tillman has prospered after returning from injury, scoring five goals and providing four assists in 16 league appearances. He appeared 43 times for Rangers in all competitions, scoring 12 goals.
