after being “formally approached” by Rangers.

The 34-year-old is scheduled to go to Stamford Bridge in November, but he has been placed on gardening leave while the terms of the

agreement are finalized.

Sam Jewell is the most recent member of the Chelsea backroom crew to leave Brighton, joining a whopping eight other non-playing

staff members taken by the West Londoners.

After taking over from American billionaire Todd Boehly, Chelsea has changed its approach to transfers, and the Blues are hopeful

that this early investment in the club’s recruitment will help.

Brighton has set the standard for date-driven, analytical hiring, and Chelsea’s big spenders obviously value that.

Chelsea-bound Sam Jewell “approached” by Rangers

It’s interesting to note that before Chelsea was suggested as a potential suitor for the Brighton employee, Rangers allegedly “formally

approached” Sam Jewell.

In October of last year, Fabrizio Romano asserted that the Ibrox team intended to appoint Jewell as their new “Technical Director” in

place of Ross Wilson, who was leaving.

At the time, there was some misunderstanding regarding the connections, as Brighton-based local sources seemed to reject allegations

that Rangers were interested.

It’s interesting to note that Sam Jewell’s transfer to Chelsea occurred only a week after he was connected to a comparable move to

Manchester United.

Dan Ashworth, the sporting director of Newcastle United, was reportedly interested in adding Jewell to his squad because the Red

Devils were about to steal him.
