Breaking News: NFL Delays, Then Announces Massive Punishment For Kansas City Chiefs Players Regarding Super Bowl
The NFL waited until Monday to declare that it would punish a Kansas City Chiefs player for an illegal play in the team’s Super Bowl triumph over the San Francisco 49ers.
According to Michael David Smith of NBC Sports, the league announces sanctions for the previous week’s play on Saturday.
The league did not issue an announcement on Saturday. Analysts predicted that Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton and cornerback L’Jarius Sneed would face fines for Super Bowl offenses.
According to Smith, the league stated on Monday that Bolton would be fined up to $8,000 for a horse-collar tackle.
Nick Bolton, a Chiefs linebacker, was the sole player punished for an on-field safety infraction at Super Bowl LVIII.
Bolton was called for a horse-collar tackle on 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy in the second quarter of the game.
And now the NFL has confirmed that Bolton has been fined $8,238 for the violation.
That looks like a weak play to fine Bolton.
Bolton will be unable to gamble in Las Vegas if quarterback Patrick Mahomes returns the Chiefs roster to the strip, as promised before the Super Bowl.
