Rangers fans loving life under Philippe Clement – As they go top of the league
Kenny Miller says Philippe Clement’s achievements at Rangers thus far are “staggering,” drawing analogies to Walter Smith.
Clement has helped improve the Gers’ season since replacing Michael Beale in the Ibrox dugout four months ago.
Rangers have already won the Viaplay Cup, and they are still competing for silverware in three other categories.
Miller said in the Daily Record [18 February] of Clement: “Remember, they were getting battered from pillar to post before he came in.”
“He’s checked every box so far. Within six weeks after starting, he had to win a trophy, which he did. He had to strive to stay on Celtic’s coattails despite their seven-point lead.
“He is now on the same level as them at the top. He had to advance from his Europa League group. He’s finished all of them. His team is currently improving.
“The statistics from the midweek win over Ross County were startling. Rangers are getting better and stronger with each game, which is precisely what you need near the end of the season.
“Perhaps the parallels are unjust, given what the great man accomplished at Ibrox. But, like Walter, Clement will not let these guys relax. He’s not here for it.
“I certainly wouldn’t have said this six weeks ago, but this team appears to be on the verge of winning the title. Make no mistake: so is their manager.”

Rangers have barely missed a beat since Clement took over, whereas Celtic are dropping points like it’s no big deal.
The Gers have the opportunity to eventually reach the top of the Scottish Premiership on Sunday (18 February) when they face St Johnstone.
More than anything, it would illustrate the progress accomplished. If we’re being honest, the difference seemed insurmountable at times.
Clement is an excellent illustration of why it is critical to choose the appropriate manager for the team, whilst Beale is the reverse.
The Belgian has recently joined the club, and the fans are completely behind him. He has a plan, which fans enthusiastically support.
That is not to argue that everything will always be flawless; the occasional defeat is to be expected. As a fandom, all we have to do is totally support the team.
Add another two of trophies to the one he won in December, and Clement might easily establish his own Smith-like dynasty at Ibrox.
