25-goals Gers bound striker set to lead the attack of his country in Euro 2024
25-goals Gers bound striker set to lead the attack of his country in Euro 2024
Lawrence Shankland has been predicted for a Scotland starting spot at Euro 2024,
after the Rangers-linked hitman scores another goal for Hearts.
The 28-year-old Scotland international striker has been in excellent form for the Jambos this season,
scoring his 25th goal for Hearts in a 2-0 victory over Motherwell.
Having also scored for Scotland this season, in a 2-2 draw with Georgia at the close of Euro 2024 qualification,
there’s no doubt the striker will be traveling to Germany in the summer.
However, Hugh Keevins and Mark Wilson of the Clyde Superscoreboard believe Lawrence Shankland will be more than simply a squad man for Steve Clarke’s team.
Lawrence Shankland predicted for Scotland’s Euro 2024 debut
Hugh Keevins and Mark Wilson predicted Lawrence Shankland to start for Scotland during Saturday’s Scottish Premiership games on Clyde One.
Given that the striker has yet to sign a new deal at Tynecastle, and Rangers are expected to look for a new striker this summer,
it’s a prospect that will undoubtedly raise eyebrows at Ibrox.
“I know everyone is preoccupied already with thoughts of the Euros, Germany, the opening ceremony,”
Keevins added. “Shankland is #1 on the list here.
“For the striker’s role, there is no-one you would have before him now.”
Mark Wilson then said, “I believe that’s an interesting issue. The dispute happened six or eight weeks ago; was he going to leave?
“He was doing everything correctly to get on the plane, but I believe everyone realized that he would not be a starter.
“However, with the variety of goals he’s scoring against everyone who comes up against him, he’s put himself in the running.
“I wonder if he goes right in? “Just a natural goal scorer with the best finishing touch.”
Rangers could face Hearts transfer competition.
Rangers were priced out of a January deal for Lawrence Shankland,
but we doubt this will be the last time the Gers are connected with the Hearts star.
Hearts knew that letting Shankland go and failing to qualify for guaranteed European football with a third-place finish would be financially devastating.
With the striker maintaining his strong form into the second half of the season, the decision becomes increasingly justifiable.
But the deadline for Hearts’ final Lawrence Shankland contract offer has passed,
and the dangerous hitman is ready to enter the final year of his deal.
It means Hearts may be obliged to negotiate a lesser fee, whilst Rangers require indigenous players in their team,
and injured striker Kemar Roofe is unlikely to be offered a new contract.
However, a start for Lawrence Shankland in Scotland might have a significant impact on Rangers,
especially if the striker has a good tournament.
There have already been links to the Premier League, and we believe many clubs will consider signing a 25-goal Euro 2024 starter.
