Barry Ferguson believes one Rangers great is nearing the end of his career and must make an impression before the season ends.

The former Rangers captain believes the time is ticking for current striker Kemar Roofe, who is recuperating from another knee setback.

His most recent injury occurred in a game against St Johnstone in December, and he has not appeared for the Rangers first team since; the £4 million player just cannot keep healthy.

According to Transfermarkt, Roofe has missed 13 Scottish Premiership games this season due to injury. However, the Jamaican is one of Rangers’ greatest finishers and occasionally scores a key goal.

Philippe Clement believes Roofe may still be “very important this season,” indicating that the forward is on the verge of returning.

Ferguson agrees with the Belgian, as the club’s former captain feels ‘predator’ Roofe has the potential to be a major player.

But the 46-year-old, speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, issued a warning to Roofe, stating that with his contract expiring in the summer, the unfortunate striker has only three months to salvage his Rangers career.

Rangers’ striker Kemar Roofe’s warning

Barry Ferguson stated, “Listen, his Rangers career has been hampered by injury.” You’ve heard my thoughts on Kemar Roofe. I think he’s an excellent centre forward. Without a doubt, but it’s just keeping him fit.

“This is probably his last chance to save his Rangers career for the postseason. If you can get him back in shape, I believe he has the potential to be a major player.

“I’m not suggesting start because (Cyriel) Dessers is performing exceptionally well. His form has improved. Fabio Silva is currently scoring a few goals. But when it comes to scoring, no one beats Kemar Roofe. “He’s a predator inside the box.”
