Mahomes won his third Super Bowl MVP title after guiding the Kansas City Chiefs to a 25-22 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday night.

Mahomes played exceptionally well in the game. He completed 34 of 46 ball attempts for 333 yards and two touchdowns, and he also gained 66 yards on the ground. His performance was critical to Kansas City’s victory.

However, not everyone agreed that Mahomes was the most deserved Chief when it came to the prestigious individual honor.

Following the game, former two-time NFL MVP Kurt Warner turned to Twitter to share with the world who he thought should have been voted MVP of the Super Bowl. Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie.

McDuffie was outstanding versus San Francisco. His late rush in the final minutes of regulation prompted the 49ers to settle for a field goal, allowing the Chiefs to force overtime and ultimately win.

McDuffie was particularly efficient in the second half, after receiving a message from defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo at halftime.

“Coach Spags’ big thing in the second half was he told us DBs he was going to rely on us heavily in the man-to-man situations,” McDuffie said in a statement. “So I trusted my brothers, my technique, and my own self-confidence. I mean, I believe that’s the only way I was able to create these plays.”

Following the game, McDuffie expressed thanks for being a part of such an exceptional defensive team.

“It’s been a blessing being a part of this defense,” McDuffie said. “There are no egos. Nobody in there has that superstar mindset. Everyone wants to play for each other. What a team, and to be a part of something like this. I’m quite appreciative.

McDuffie, who is only 23 years old, has a bright future in football. So, just as he is grateful to be a member of the Chiefs, they should be grateful to have him on the roster.
