Rangers are currently seen as the “favourites” to win the Scottish Premiership, according to Michael Stewart, although the league

ought to have ended by now.

When Michael Beale was in charge, Celtic appeared to be winning the league handily, but since Philippe Clement took over in October,

the difference between the Old Firm rivals has narrowed.

Following the Hoops’ draw against Kilmarnock on Saturday 17 February, Rangers have the opportunity to knock their rivals off the top

spot with a win over St Johnstone on Sunday 18 February.

“The league ought to have ended when it did. Rangers are now the favorites, therefore it’s obvious that it wasn’t over, Stewart stated in

a live broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland on February 17, at 5:46 p.m.

“I believe I stated that Rangers were the favorites at that point because you could sense the change in momentum last week or the

week before. Even though Celtic are still missing some of their best players,

Carter-Vickers and Hatate’s returns are becoming more likely.

“When are they going to come back in and are they going to be able to hit the ground running and give that much of an adrenaline

rush and a shot in the arm of Celtic that is able to catapult them back in? I don’t know.”

Rangers take the upper hand against Celtic

It seems sense that Rangers supporters would be licking their lips at the chance to unseat their rivals for the top spot. The fans will

undoubtedly be paying close attention to the table, even though Clement is unlikely to be.

Celtic has dominated the Scottish Premiership with nine league titles in the last ten seasons, but the handoff may be coming.

Since Clement moved at Ibrox in October, the Gers have only dropped one game: 2-1 in the December Old Firm rivalry. But after

seeing the game, the Belgian will know better and be able to handle the weaker opponents.

Rangers’ only genuine threat to prevent themselves from winning the title is Celtic, and they are unlikely to fall short of any of the

forthcoming obstacles. Plus, there’s still a potential for Clement’s team to win the Europa League, so more salt in their wounds.

A supercomputer has forecast the likelihood of the Gers winning the Europa League this season, in other Rangers news.
