Philippe Clement calls for Rangers ref solution as boss wants to hold officials accountable OUTSIDE of games
After pleading for more communication with officials, Philippe Clement acknowledges that he was “too temperamental” on the
sidelines against Ross County but also points out that there are two sides to every story.
stops in the first forty-five minutes, Clement sent a flying water bottle, but Muir retaliated by showing him a yellow card. After the
game, Clement quickly took responsibility for it and apologized to the referee.
In his press conference, he smiled and said he got a little too carried away and earned the booking. In addition, he feels managers can
learn a lot from referees and has called for regular meetings between officials and coaches to enhance communication and clear up
misunderstandings.
“I was a little too temperamental in the last game,” he said. I received a yellow card for kicking away a water bottle. That made sense to
me later. Managers may also benefit from open exchanges like that one (with the referees). First and foremost, me.”
He responded, “I live in the present and the future, I don’t live in the past,” when asked what could be done to raise the bar for
officiating. I think it’s great that decisions are transparent because everyone, myself included, has to be able to learn from mistakes
made in football. Maintaining connection with the referees is usually beneficial.
