Rangers could now accept Cyriel Dessers offer – Sources
Gers could sell Cyriel Dessers this summer as part of a huge clear-out, according to Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Insider Track Podcast,
transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke said that Gers chiefs may decide to sell the summer signing in order to reorganize the squad.
Dessers had a difficult start to the season after joining under then-manager Michael Beale for a reputed £4.5 million deal from Italian club Cremonese.
However, he has 14 goals and seven assists in all competitions this season,
including a brace in Rangers’ recent 3-1 victory over Ross County on Wednesday (14 February).
Could Cyriel Dessers leave Rangers after only one season?
Regardless, it is believed that the club wants to reduce the squad’s age and attract young, high-potential players, which means the 29-year-old may leave.
Rangers intend to make big squad changes next summer in order to rebuild the squad in the image of Philippe Clement,
who had an outstanding first season at Ibrox.
As reported by Football Insider (15 February), Kemar Roofe, 31, is unlikely to be offered a new contract before the end of the season and is expected to leave the club when his contract expires in May.
Sources have also told Football Insider (15 February) that left-back Borna Barisic, 31,
is ready to leave the club this summer when his contract comes up to an end.
Rangers drew level on points and goal difference with league leaders Celtic following their victory against Ross County.
They’ll face St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Sunday afternoon (18 February).
