Done Deal? Ibrox Exclusive: Rangers decide to sell star  for almost £5m

In light of their intentions to undertake a significant summer clear-out, Rangers may decide to sell Cyriel Dessers, sources have told Football Insider.

In an interview with Football Insider’s Insider Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke disclosed that the goal of the team’s reshaping may include the decision by Gers management to sell the summer acquisition.

After joining the team under former manager Michael Beale for an alleged £4.5 million from Italian team Cremonese, Dessers had a difficult start to the season.

But in all competitions this season, he has scored 14 goals and provided seven assists, including a brace in the Rangers’ most recent 3-1 victory over Ross County on Wednesday, February 14.

In any case, the 29-year-old may leave because it’s thought the team wants to bring in younger, highly-talented players and lower the average age of the squad. After Philippe Clement’s outstanding early tenure at Ibrox, Rangers intend to make a big squad change next summer in an effort to improve the squad’s reputation.

Football Insider (15 February) reported that Kemar Roofe, 31, will probably leave the team when his contract expires in May and is not expected to receive a new contract offer before the end of the season.

Football Insider (15 February) has also been informed by sources that Borna Barisic, a 31-year-old left back, is prepared to leave the team this summer when his contract expires.

Following their victory over Ross County, Rangers tied league leaders Celtic on points and goal differential. Their next game is on Sunday afternoon, February 18, at McDiarmid Park against St Johnstone.
