When MARCO TILIO left Melbourne City in June to sign a £2 million five-year contract with Celtic,

he insisted that he was prepared to make an impression.

The 22-year-old forward, nevertheless, did not make an impression on head coach Brendan Rodgers,

and he returned to the A-League team last month on loan.

Tilio stated that although he had anticipated making an instant impression at the champs,

an injury had derailed his intentions to get started right away in Scotland.

The thrilling ace of the touchline revealed, “I got injured while away with the Australia Under-23s.

” At that point, I believed the injury would last a week.

PARADISE IS POSTPONED. In June, Marco Tilio is beaming with pride as he wears his Celtic shirt.

“I signed the contract at Celtic, but I was out for three months due to an injury.”

“It doesn’t help that you’re up against eight or nine other wingers who are at least as excellent as you.

I was always going to have a tough time breaking into that Celtic squad, and I had to play catch-up.

But I thought I was prepared to depart from Australia. After serving my time here,

I felt that I had performed admirably. I felt prepared at the time I decided to go there,

given the build-up up to that point.

Tilio played in substitute roles in the 1-1 draw with Motherwel and the 4-1 victory over Hibs,

but his total playing time at the Hoops was just 28 minutes.

“It was a tough six months for my football, but it’s always a learning curve for me

and we’ll see what happens in the future,” the raider continued in an interview with the Daily Record.

However, I don’t believe I left Australia too soon. These next six months are crucial for me. Aiding Australia’s

requalification for the Olympics is my goal.

“That was a major factor in my decision to come back and would be pretty special.”

Tilio made 86 appearances for City, scoring 20 goals and dishing out 19 assists as he helped the team win one

Championship and an unprecedented three straight Premierships.

In July, he is expected back at Celtic.
