‘Rangers will sign him’ – Journalist predicts permanent move for ‘Terrific’ ace

After a “terrific” start to his time with the team, Oscar Cortes, an on-loan winger, will eventually join Rangers permanently, according to Jonny McFarlane.

On February 14, the journalist stated on the Rangers Review Morning Briefing that he believes the Colombian will

develop into a “right good player” at Ibrox and that, should his temporary contract expire, the club will probably

keep him in Scotland. The 20-year-old Cortes impressed during his first Light Blues start in the 2-0 Scottish Cup

victory over Ayr United on February 10. If the option in his loan agreement is actually triggered, he is expected to

have a long-term contract ready for him.

“Cortes, I thought was terrific the other night; he’s been really good since he signed,” McFarlane said (15m). Even

though he’s only had roughly 120 minutes, it’s not really enough to form a firm opinion, but I truly like his work rate.

His tenacity in hitting the byline really appeals to me. “I believe he will be an extremely talented player.” I believe the

Rangers will sign him.

Cortes anticipated to relocate the Rangers permanently

Based on preliminary data, it appears that the Gers won’t be let down by this loan arrangement, unlike what

happened to Malik Tillman, and Abdallah Sima still poses a threat. The latter’s demise in January due to the most

recent long-term Rangers injury dealt a serious blow to the team’s chances of winning more Viaplay Cups this year.

However, Philippe Clement has made a good start, as it appears that he has identified Cortes as a key component of

the backup plan in the event that the Brighton loanee is unavailable.

Oscar Cortes is expected by McFarlane to sign a long-term contract with the Rangers.

Although there have only been two substitute appearances in the SPFL and one start in the cup against lower league opponents, three victories and a first assist over the weekend, coupled with the player appearing to be a surefire offensive asset, have swiftly raised expectations.

Of course, he needs to improve on that throughout the remainder of the season, but unless his Ibrox debut proves to be a total bust, it appears likely that he will stay in the Clement lineup for a long time.
