However, there appears to be just one requirement.

Rangers already have an agreement in place with one current player over a major new contract this summer,

according to a fresh update regarding his future.

Rangers contract news

In the end, the Gers had a successful January transfer window, adding several significant loan players

to strengthen Philippe Clement’s roster depth. Being a talented young attacker, Fabio Silva was an exciting

addition when he joined on a temporary basis from Premier League team Wolves. Oscar Cortes, meanwhile,

arrived at Ibrox later than expected and stayed there until the end of the season after leaving Lens.

Both are only expected to be with the team through the summer, at the very least. They hope to have

a beneficial influence on the Scottish Premiership title race, as well as on players like Borna Barisic,

John Lundstram, Ryan Jack, and Kemar Roofe, who will all be out of contract at that time

Oscar Cortes expected to sign permanent Rangers deal

Oscar Cortes is expected to sign a “huge” long-term contract with Rangers this summer, if he makes

an impression on Clement and the board during his loan period at Ibrox, according to a recent update

from Football Insider.

Football Insider has been informed by insiders that Oscar Cortes, should he do well during his loan term

at Rangers, will receive a four-year contract and a “huge” pay hike. On deadline day, the Colombian international

signed a season-long loan from RC Lens to play for the Ibrox giants.

“If the winger satisfies performance-related goals in the second half of the season, the Gers will have the option to

purchase him in the summer. If he makes an impression on Rangers executives and manager Philippe Clement, he

should receive a raise in pay each week in addition to a long-term deal that expires in 2028.”

With a brand-new deal looming in front of him, Cortes has every reason to view this as a huge motivator

between now and the conclusion of the season, which will only help Rangers win the championship.

Rangers would be able to save a significant amount of money on their salary bill because so many established

players could depart in the summer. This money would then be available to make Cortes’ switch permanent.

But obviously, the 20-year-old needs to produce for this to happen. If he doesn’t get off to a quick start and

struggles to gain playing time under Clement, the Gers may decide it would be wiser to look at another target.
