Celtic Star set to leave Celtic Park.
Rocco Vata and Celtic are reportedly negotiating a new four-year contract.
The teenager is in the final year of his first professional contract, a three year deal. From Italian clubs, there was a strong indication that he was on his way out.
Following the winter break Vata was a surprise choice for the squad to face Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup. scoring his first goal as a senior after coming off the bench.
Is the future of Celtic Star destined to be outside of Celtic Park?
Vata hasn’t been on the field to add to his four fleeting substitute appearances from the previous season. He has been on the bench for the last four games.
Following their conversation on Liam Scales’ contract offer, Scott Burns of the Daily Record wrote:
A new contract with promising striker Rocco Vata is also being discussed by Celtic. The talks to extend the four-year contract of the Republic of Ireland under-21 cap, which expires in the summer, are still ongoing.
It is difficult to see where Vata could play for the rest of the season unless there is a horrible run of injuries, given three strikers are returned from the Asian Cup and Adam Idah and Nicolas Kuhn signed last month.
This season, Ben McPherson became a member of Queens Park. After both players signed new contracts, Ben Summers was loaned to Dunfermline.
