The striker linked to Rangers has finally agreed new deal ,”speaks volume” as the next move is suggested.
Rangers goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin is poised to depart the club on a free transfer following a successful four-year stint at Ibrox.
Rangers signed the two-time Scotland international from Sunderland in the summer of 2020 on a free transfer.
In his first season, the ex-Burton Albion player made 11 league games for Steven Gerrard’s
McLaughlin went on to make another 18 league appearances in the next two seasons. During this spell,
he played an important role in Rangers’ 2022 Scottish Cup victory,
starting the entire match against his former side Hearts and keeping a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory as the Gers won in extra time
.e, helping the club win its first Premiership title in a decade while also going unbeaten.
The Scottish goalkeeper has not played a single minute of football for Rangers this season
and has yet to make the matchday squad since the summer signing of ex-Stoke City star Jack Butland,
who is now considered an outsider for the England squad due to his heroics in goal this season.
McLaughlin is Rangers’ third-choice goalkeeper under Philippe Clement,
serving as an understudy to both first-choice Butland and backup goalkeeper Robby McCrorie,
who has been upgraded to second-choice in the previous six months.
According to Football Insider, McLaughlin will not be offered an extension to his current deal,
which expires this summer. This means the 36-year-old will be available a free transfer next season.
Overall, the shot-stopper has played 46 games for the Glasgow giants.
He has also played for Scotland as a backup goalkeeper in the postponed Euro 2020 competition.
Taylor has now highlighted that UEFA’s regulations have altered, putting the club in a better position,
and he has explained the three pillars required to assure their continued existence.
