Ryan Kent slaughtered by ex-Rangers ace after first Fenerbache game in three months
Ryan Kent, a former Rangers winger, made his first appearance for Fenerbahce in three months, but Tugay Kerimoglu, another former Ibrox star, promptly destroyed him.
The Istanbul club made a last-ditch attempt to offload Kent during the transfer window, but the former Liverpool
player turned down every move offer. Kent’s move to Turkey has been a complete disaster. Kent was allegedly
threatened with having his salary withheld by Fenerbahce until he threatened to file a FIFA complaint.
Ryan Kent hasn’t really done much for Fenerbahce.
He has been in cold storage since the beginning of November, when he last participated in a league game, but he was unexpectedly named as a substitute in their game against Alanyaspor.
With five minutes remaining, manager İsmail Kartal substituted him for captain Edin Dzeko, a seasoned striker, in
an attempt to win the match, but ultimately, it ended in a 2-2 draw. Tugay, who played for the Rangers for eighteen
months and earned 94 caps for his nation, wasn’t pleased with the replacement either. “You don’t take off your main
striker and replace him with a guy who doesn’t want to be there and who you are actively trying to sell,” the TV
pundit said when discussing strategies for winning a game.
“Ryan Kent hasn’t really done much for Fenerbahce.
“I have no idea why they thought it was a good idea to put him back in the squad suddenly after so long out.”
Kent’s contract is still in effect for more than three years. In his 16 games with the team, his lone goal came against FC Zimbru in the Europa Conference League in his debut.
