Although there have been frequent connections between Lawrence Shankland and Rangers this summer, the

forward’s refusal to sign a contract’ speaks volumes’ about where he sees his future, according to one report.

The Tynecastle club was eager to secure their captain’s future after a goal-filled season in the capital, and they made

him an offer of a lucrative new contract during the January transfer window. However, the 28-year-old forward has

been in incredible form the entire season and has not signed the better agreement.

“I’m sure discussions will go on in the future. I currently have eighteen months remaining on this contract. The

striker stated, “We can move on with that; there’s not really a crazy rush to get things sorted out as soon as possible.”

Though it was anticipated that both Old Firm teams would try to test Steven Naismith’s team’s resolve, no bid

materialized. Hearts maintain that they were not contacted at all in January, and Shankland stayed in Edinburgh,

where he has continued to score goals, including two braces in Sunday’s 4-1 victory over Airdrieonians in the Scottish

Cup fifth round. The forward’s contract will expire in the summer of 2025, but he has scored 20 goals for the team in all competitions.

The Scotland international may not see his future with Hearts, according to Football Transfer Correspondent Dean

Jones, who has now stated that Shankland’s failure to sign a contract suggests

the forward will likely leave the team shortly.

“Yes, Hearts supporters are definitely not doing too much better here, as he hasn’t signed a new deal and there will

likely be further rumors that he will try to sign with another team.

I was not promised that he would stay in Hearts,

not even during the window’s last hours. Thus, that presumably says a lot about the direction this guy might be

pursuing his career in the future,” Jones added.
