Gers could land £3m summer striker boost, he’s on fire!

We were promised a different forward line when Michael Beale signed Sam Lammers for Rangers during the summer transfer window.

Unfortunately for the former manager of the Gers, that’s precisely what happened as the Dutchman set out to shoot

blanks in front of goal for both Philippe Clement and the person who signed him. Sam Lammers has recovered since

going on loan to Utrecht, though; with three assists and one goal in five games, it’s possible that his time at Rangers

wasn’t entirely a waste of money.

At an alleged £3 million, the 26-year-old wasn’t inexpensive. Instead of the wingers that supporters had hoped would

take the place of players like Ryan Kent and Fashion Sakala, number ten arrived.

Todd Cantwell’s present state of affairs demonstrates that this is the last item we require.

Though returning to the Eredivisie has proven advantageous thus far, the fact that he has been playing as an actual

striker rather than in the space behind has increased the intrigue. It was surprising that he was never tried in this

role prior to the signing of Fabio Silva, considering the injury concerns that both Danilo and Kemar Roofe had.

Here, as a young player for PSV Eindhoven, Lammers established himself and, strangely enough, even drew comparisons to Ruud van Nistelrooy.

It would be inappropriate to dismiss his form with contempt.

It’s obvious that Sam Lammers’ time at Rangers is coming to an end, and that Nils Koppen will try to find him a new home in the summer.

Although it might be difficult to recover every penny of the £3 million, given his current performance, we should have optimism that we can recover the majority of it.

Every cent counts as Philippe Clement attempts to replace unreliable players and rebuild the team.
