Philippe Clement plug for £8.1m Ibrox transfer pair is sure to excite Rangers fans

Rangers manager Philippe Clement praised debutant Ibrox duo Oscar Cortes and Mohamed Diomande – and pledged that there is more to come from both.

The Gers began all three of their January arrivals in the Scottish Cup match against Ayr United,

with Mohamed Diomande, Oscar Cortes, and Fabio Silva making three of seven changes to the squad.

However, the former two were making their Rangers debuts after taking timid steps from the bench since signing.

Rangers lost out on a £1.5 million player who is now valued at £7.5 million

Both players have now made their complete debuts and have been introduced to Ibrox fans for the first time.

Philippe Clement discusses Oscar Cortes and Mohamed Diomande.
Speaking to the press after the match

, Philippe Clement commended both players while emphasizing that they are still in the early stages of their Rangers careers.

Philippe Clement claimed that Mohamed Diomande was playing further forward than usual,

and that Oscar Cortes was in a more familiar position in the front three.

With that in mind, the Rangers boss stated that the best is yet to come from both.

“Oscar played in a position that is more familiar,” observed Clement.

“Dio played a little bit better today because of the conditions and the relationship we’re developing with Tom Lawrence,

as well as his minutes. “Todd (Cantwell) also got a knock over the weekend, so we wanted to keep an eye out for that.

“They demonstrated good qualities. They demonstrated that they are good players,

technical players, and they have only been with us for two weeks,

but you can already tell that they have a solid relationship with the team and understand what we want to do.

“Of course it’s not perfect yet and it needs to become more natural but that’s normal after two weeks.

” As Rangers fans reflected on a routine Scottish Cup victory over Ayr United, Oscar Cortes stood out the most.

The young Colombian winger, 20, appears to be a direct option who isn’t afraid to take a shot on goal,

as the RC Lens loanee also set up Borna Barisic for the opener and was awarded Player of the Match.
