£21,000 per week Rangers star told he has no future at the club – ‘writing is on the wall’
Borna Barisic has been warned the ‘writing is on the wall’ regarding his Rangers future.
The left-back’s deflected effort propelled the Light Blues to a 2-0 victory over Ayr United on Saturday.
It secured a quarter-final position in the Scottish Cup for manager Philippe Clement following an easy last-16 match.
This season, rumors linking the 31-year-old to a move away from Glasgow have cast doubt on his future.
He is out of contract at the end of the season, and Ridvan Yilmaz has begun to work his way into the starting lineup,
despite speculation that he would return to Turkey.
Brazilian left back Jefte is also reported to be on the verge of a summer move after a winter pursuit fell short.
Barisic has been at Rangers since 2018, winning every major Scottish honour once and being a part of the side that reached the Europa League final in 2022.
His future became a talking point during Viaplay’s coverage of the Scottish Cup match against the Honest Men,
and pundit Stephen Craigan believes Barisic will leave this summer.
The former Northern Ireland international said: “Borna Barisic appears to be on his way out.
“Ridvan Yilmaz, who is out of contract, has played the majority of the games since Philippe Clement arrived.” The writing was on the wall.
“However, when given the opportunity to play, you must perform. Borna Barisic has been a consistent performer with a fantastic left foot.
“He’s doing well right now, but where will he be in the future? Certainly, he’ll try to claim that goal.
