As journalist Dean Jones mulls over his future at his current club, Lawrence Shankland, a target for Rangers, is

“going to make a transfer” at some stage and may depart Hearts in the summer amid reports of a move to Ibrox.

After a quiet winter transfer window in which they added little to Philippe Clement’s squad, the Gers will have

already switched their focus to the summer transfer window of 2024.

Rangers, who have already guaranteed a spot in the Europa League’s round of sixteen this season, aim to maintain

their challenge at the top of the Scottish Premiership and gain ground in continental football. Shankland, who might

relocate to Glasgow’s blue neighbourhood in the summer, has long been admired by the Light Blues. He is now the

highest goalscorer in the Premier League this season.

Rangers interest in Shankland continues amid contract offer

Despite excited about the prospect of adding Shankland, Rangers had a quiet winter transfer window in 2024 and

were unable to start discussions to buy him from Hearts. The Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Fabio Silva was

the first player the Gers signed on loan. The team made three loan additions in January. Silva will stay with the team

until the conclusion of the 2023–2024 campaign.

Nordsjaelland midfielder Mohamed Diomande arrives on an initial loan, though his move will be made permanent in

the summer. Clement’s side concluded their business on Deadline Day by signing Lens winger Oscar Cortes. The

signing will bolster the Belgian’s options in forward areas.

But during the month of January, the main topic of conversation had been Shankland’s possible signing. Jones

stated to GIVEMESPORT in December 2023 that the 28-year-old had fueled rumors by liking a Rangers social media

post commemorating their Viaplay Cup victory. Two contract offers from the capital club have been rejected by

Shankland’s representation, according to a recent revelation by Hearts CEO Andrew McKinlay.

The Scotland international’s current contract at Tynecastle expires in 18 months, suggesting that the Edinburgh

giants may have to sell the center-forward in the summer.

Rangers’ prospects of winning the Scottish Premiership

title the next season would be greatly increased by Shankland’s rise to the top of the scoring chart.

Ryan Stevenson, a pundit and Daily Record columnist, asserted last year that the No. 9 is valued at £5 million. The

fact that that amount would set a record for the amount paid to Premiership clubs suggests that Rangers could have

to shell out big bucks to ensure Shankland’s long-term viability.

Dean Jones – Shankland will make another decision on his future in the summer

According to Jones, Shankland will eventually depart Hearts because teams outside of Scotland are reportedly

interested in signing him. The writer raises the possibility that, come the summer transfer window, the striker may

decide differently about his future. Smith stated to GIVEMESPORT:
