Browns: LeBron James of the Lakers responds to Myles Garrett’s DPOY victory

Even though LeBron James has stated as much, it’s reasonable to say that things didn’t go as planned for him at the NBA trade deadline.

James acknowledged the historic accomplishment of Cleveland Browns sensation Myles Garrett despite any minor annoyance the four-time champion may be feeling about his team’s current situation.

At the 13th annual NFL Honors on Thursday, Garrett was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year, making him the first Brown in franchise history to be crowned the best defender in football. Game-wrecker Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys was third in the voting, behind TJ Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers, who won the prize in 2021.

The only other players to finish with more than seven points in the vote were Dallas Cowboys

cornerback Daron Bland and pass-rusher Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders.

James shared a message for his fellow Cleveland sports legend Garrett on

Friday morning when he re-posted a picture of him holding the DPOY award.

“Well done, brother!” James included seven clapping emojis in his Instagram story.

Prior to Thursday’s ceremony in Las Vegas,

Garrett had been named DPOY by the Pro Football Writers’ Association of America,

making him the most dominant defense in football this season.

Leading the league’s best defense, he recorded 42 tackles, three deflection, four forced fumbles,

30 quarterback hits, 14 sacks, and 17 tackles for loss in 2023. According to ESPN stats,

he recorded a 30% pass-rush win rate and drew double teams on 29% of his snaps—numbers that rank second in the league behind Parsons’.

Not only is James still a resident of Northeast Ohio, but he also clearly knows what excellence looks like.
