As the season moves into the last third of the competition, the competition for the Scottish Premiership golden boot is intensifying.

Bojan Miovski of Aberdeen scored another goal midweek to bring his season total to 13. But, leading scorer Lawrence

Shankland has identified a Celtic player who he believes could challenge both of them come May.

After a season filled with goals, Shankland hopes to board a plane for Euro 2024 with Steve Clarke’s Scotland this

summer. Shankland scored his 17th goal of the season and his 50th goal overall for Hearts in the 1-0 victory over St

Johnstone on Wednesday. Shankland will have a good chance of making the German squad for the European

Championships if he wins the Scottish Premiership golden boot this year. However, he believes that one Old Firm

striker will be able to challenge him for the top spot in the scoring charts come May.

“I had a run but didn’t finish last season. From where I am now this year, it is apparent that I would like to continue

and succeed. [Bojan] Miovski is playing well for Aberdeen and putting goals in, so I’m thinking Kyogo will also find

some success. You can’t become too engrossed in it because this league is full with talented strikers. I’ll just keep walking,” the captain of the Hearts said.

“Out on the field for Hearts, it is all I have control over. I must thus continue doing what I’m doing. You simply need

to be present in the moment since there are so many games available, so all you can do is concentrate on what you’re

doing at that particular moment. The striker stated, “You just have to focus on your club football and then nearer the

time it comes into play because anything can happen in football between the international camps.”

This Sunday in the Scottish Cup, Hearts will play Airdrieonians. Kickoff is at 5 p.m.
