Celtic got away with ‘daylight robbery’ in their win over Hibernian last night.

That is the opinion of former Rangers striker Kris Boyd.

Brendan Rodgers’ side snatched all three points at Easter Road late on, with Adam Idah converting from the penalty spot in additional time.

The champions battled to defeat Nick Montgomery’s new-look Hibs side, with Dylan Levitt canceling out Idah’s first penalty early in the game.

The late winner from the on-loan Norwich attacker triggered wild celebrations in the away end, as the Hoops reopened a three-point lead over Rangers at the Premiership summit after playing one more game.

But Boyd couldn’t accept the loss without being brutally honest about their awful performance in the capital.

After the game, he told Sky Sports: “Any game you want to gain the three points, but make no mistake, Celtic got away with one tonight, no doubt about it.

“He (Idah) has come up, and a lot of people were questioning him before he came up,

but to score major penalties in the way he did, credit to him.

“When you win a game, everything changes around you, and you believe you were dominant,

yet Celtic fell far short of the standards they set during the previous two years. “It was daylight robbery, and they got away with it tonight.”

On the second penalty, in which Joe Newell collided with Kyogo,

Eilidh Barbour questioned the panel of Neil Lennon, James McFadden, and Boyd if they all agreed with Nick Walsh’s decision.

Boyd and McFadden nodded, and Lennon remarked, “Joe just flies in there.” I understand he is attempting to block the shot,

but he catches Kyogo late, and it is in the box.

“I can understand the referee maybe misses it but when he sees it again he has got to give a penalty.”
