Rangers left embarrassed and Frustrated by the sad incident that occurred at Ibrox

Former Rangers kitman Jim McAlister has spoken out about the “personal trauma”

he experienced during his recent tribunal with the club.

Rangers were found in breach of contract by an employment tribunal in Glasgow last month,

citing McAlister’s departure from Ibrox last year.

The lifelong Rangers supporter has recently got a position with Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq,

who are led by former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard.

According to the Daily Record [8 February], McAlister said on his personal Instagram account:

“I wanted to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me since the Employment Tribunal in Glasgow ruled that

I was unfairly dismissed by Rangers.”

“As you can imagine, being wrongfully accused is a personal pain,

as well as a trauma for my immediate family and friends, all of whom were aware that the charges had no factual basis.

“I also learned about the Rangers family and football community’s strength, as well as their sense of justice and fairness.”

“I wanted to thank all those who took the time to post support for me and my family and who also sent personal messages.”

Rangers left embarrassed by the Ibrox affair.

When the tribunal completed, Heart & Hand founder David Edgar stated that the Rangers’ conduct were “not on” and that lessons should be learned.

A judge ruled that McAlister’s employment rights were violated, and the club is consequently liable.

Rangers were compelled to pay their former employee £13,000,

although the embarrassment of the entire situation would have stung more than the comparatively little money.

The timing of McAlister’s departure was unusual, with The Athletic stating in October that the kitman was “dismissed unexpectedly”.

McAlister retired from playing and even turned down a testimonial at Greenock Morton to work as Jimmy Bell’s kitman for the Rangers.

He described it as a “dream role,” and upon Bell’s death, he took over as chief kitman until his removal.

McAlister, who is now working in Saudi Arabia alongside former Liverpool manager Gerrard, has at least managed to return to work.

The case is now closed, and this public statement has been made, bringing an end to the situation.
