LSU Acquires Louisiana’s Top Player Dominick McKinley
On National Signing Day, LSU football successfully added Dominick McKinley, a highly sought-after five-star defensive lineman, to their class of 2024.
McKinley’s commitment came after LSU’s top player in Louisiana announced on New Year’s Eve that he was joining the program.
As of National Signing Day, McKinley, a standout defensive tackle from Bayou State, officially committed to the LSU program for the upcoming summer.
Brian Kelly and his team successfully persuaded the #1 recruit from The Boot to switch his commitment from Texas A&M.
Joining McKinley in the transfer to LSU are five-star offensive lineman Weston Davis, four-star defensive lineman Gabriel Reliford, and Coen Echols.
This recruitment secures LSU’s defensive tackle of the future, as officially announced on Wednesday.
Furthermore, the addition of McKinley and Reliford has significantly strengthened LSU’s defensive line depth.
Coach Kelly’s staff focused on the trenches during the summer,
and Bo Davis has been brought in to handle defensive line tasks,
adding to the team’s diverse skill set for the foreseeable future.
While LSU missed out on five-star Terry Bussey,
they have secured four commitments from Texas A&M in recent months.
The 2024 class concludes with 28 high school signees and one JUCO signee, including highly sought-after DL Shone Washington.
Diving into the details of the Texas A&M flips,
McKinley, considered the best player in Louisiana for the 2024 class, is a unanimous five-star defensive end.
Ranked as high as No. 2 at his position and No. 12 overall nationally,
he led his team to the Division I Select State Championship Game in 2023
and earned numerous accolades for his outstanding performance.
Similarly, Weston Davis, a two-sport standout from Beaumont, Texas,
is a top offensive line prospect with four-star ratings from ESPN, Rivals, and 247Sports.
Gabriel Reliford, a four-star defensive lineman, is among the top prospects for the Class of 2024,
boasting impressive stats in tackles, tackles for loss, sacks, and more throughout his high school career.
