Offer made: Rangers make decision on “important” Ibrox ace who Clement says “changes every game”

Rangers are three points behind Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic,

but with a game in hand,

they have every possibility of tightening the title fight to maximum level,

capping off the ultimate comeback in the pursuit of silverware.

And, while the action on the ground unfolds,

a significant decision is said to have been made in the Ibrox boardroom.

Rangers Contract News
While this season could be a huge success,

Philippe Clement has yet to complete a full season in charge,

thus next season may be the one to watch for the Gers.

The Belgian must,

however, keep his squad’s base intact if he is to consistently beat Celtic to the Scottish title in the coming years.

Those at Ibrox witnessed how Michael Beale suffered during his time

after the departures of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent,

and they’ll be hoping to spare Clement the same fate.

Of course, if the January transfer window is anything to go by,

the former AS Monaco manager will undoubtedly be supported by the Gers,

who signed Fabio Silva,

Oscar Cortes, and Mohamed Diomande last month.

They have now made an equally significant decision off the pitch.

According to Wayne Veysey of Football Insider,

Rangers has extended John Lundstram’s contract. As things stand,

the midfielder is expected to leave the club as a free agent this summer,

giving the Gers a frustrating blow. Lundstram is said to want to stay,

but with negotiations still ongoing,

it’s unclear whether that will be the case come May.

Clement clearly likes the former Sheffield United midfielder, stating in December:

“He is essential in many ways. He never conceals. He always wants the ball.

He knows the tactical study we want to undertake with each game,

and he alters it to try to identify spaces.”

Regarding Lundstram’s contract, the Rangers manager added:

“Yeah, of course I am thinking about it.

That is something we can debate in the next weeks and months.

I’ve already discussed it with him; he knows how I feel,

and I know how he feels, but that’s for the coming weeks and months.
