‘Chaotic’ – BBC journalist stunned by MOTM in Rangers win v Aberdeen, shares why he was signed
In a “chaotic” Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Aberdeen at Ibrox, Todd Cantwell was named Player of the Match.
Journalist Sean McGill of BBC Sport claims that Cantwell scored the game’s winning goal on Tuesday, February 6.
In the league match, the Gers prevailed 2-1, with goals from Rabbi Matondo and Bojan Miovski for the hosts and the
Dons, respectively. McGill wrote for BBC Sport on February 6th, discussing his Player of the Match, saying, “Todd
Cantwell was brought to Ibrox to win his side games.”
“The Englishman is starting to show his quality after a stuttering start as he proved the difference in a chaotic encounter.”
Flying at Rangers, Cantwell
After 30 appearances across all competitions this season, Rangers star Cantwell, 25, is currently on six goals and four assists. The 25-year-old is having a great season at Ibrox.
Naturally, the midfielder is much more than just a goal scorer and assister; Philippe Clement relies heavily on his energy.
Cantwell’s success on the field this season is largely the result of the Belgian, but Michael Beale, the former Ibrox manager who brought Cantwell to the team, also deserves a great deal of credit.
Cantwell was in serious danger of wasting his bright future at Norwich City after winning numerous awards during
his formative years at Carrow Road. Although the player’s achievements in the Premier League were soon forgotten,
he now appears to be at the top of his game under Clement.
When Rangers’ Cantwell scored the game’s winning goal, Ibrox erupted. They defeated the Dons at Ibrox to draw
level with Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership standings, and he put on another confident performance there.
