‘To be honest’: Willie Miller shares intriguing view on Celtic’s performances compared to Rangers this season

The storyline surrounding Celtic and Rangers this season took a different turn after the Ibrox club hired Philippe Clement.

When the Belgian took over, Rangers were having trouble while Celtic was leading the league.

After roughly 20 games under Clement’s leadership, Rangers are reportedly winning while Celtic are reportedly having trouble. Many people hold this opinion, particularly in the Scottish media, but Willie Miller has refuted it with an interesting analysis of how the big two are performing.

“To be honest, Celtic haven’t looked like a happy team for the majority of the season,” Miller said on BBC Radio Scotland. Without a doubt, quality exists.

In addition to having several injured players, they also have players away on international duty. However, after watching them a few times, I can’t help but feel that occasionally they lack the tempo to really bring it when they’re winning, and some of their performances have been a little lackluster.

However, you could also say that about the Rangers. In my opinion, Philippe Clement leads the league in terms of outcomes, but I’m not so sure about his performances.

“I genuinely believe that both teams’ performances—especially Celtic’s—have somewhat declined. I believe Rangers have gained ground on Celtic, and Celtic have the upper hand.

Although it’s undeniable that Celtic hasn’t played at its peak, Rangers haven’t either. Although Clement has been producing better results, the Ibrox coach’s team is more adept at grinding out the tough ones than Celtic is.
Despite their best efforts this season, Celtic have ultimately lost more points. Rangers have occasionally suffered as well, but Clement has given his players more confidence that they can work a little harder to achieve the desired outcome.

That’s what Celtic’s remarkably lacking this year. Without a doubt, the championship will return to Celtic Park if Rodgers can locate both of those things in addition to a cutting edge.
