“There were reports..” – Price tag claim made as Gers face summer striker issue after recent transfer link

The only surprise is that local talent like Bojan Miovski was completely overlooked as Rangers spent a lot of money

in the summer trying to replace players like Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos.

The rumoured £535,000 acquisition from Hungary has scored 20 goals, give or take, in the last two seasons in

a squad that is far from inventive, and it now seems as though Gers manager Philippe Clement has missed the

mark—that is, assuming he was interested.

The Rangers squad will need forward reinforcements again in the summer but the price-tag given to

Bojan Miovski might see the Aberdeen forward ignored once again.

In a moment of rare punditry rather than pantomime, the Sky Sports panel of former Dons keeper Joe Lewis,

Kris Boyd and Chris Sutton spoke about the qualities of the North Macedonia international after scoring at Ibrox

and why neither of the two Glasgow giants had made a move for the 24-year old.

Responding specifically about Rangers and why Bojan Miovski wasn’t an obvious choice in January, Boyd replied:

“Finances, obviously, are a big factor. Rangers invested a lot of cash in that top end of the pitch during the summer,

and it didn’t quite work out.”

“Maybe now that Lammers has moved on, Dessers, there were rumours in January that someone might have been interested.

“If he had moved on, there might have been a chance; they could have gone and got someone.”

Lewis responded as follows when the former Gers hero asked him how much he believed the Aberdeen talisman was worth:

“£8 million plus extras.”

At least.

If Rangers had a striker on 20 goals, we’d be demanding nearly double that and, at 24, Bojan Miovski has all

the tools to play at a higher level.

With the talent Michael Beale already had, we didn’t need to sign Lammers (see Todd Cantwell’s current form as

the ideal illustration), and we most likely overpaid for Dessers.

Miovski wouldn’t have cost us £8 million, the amount we paid for Lammers and Dessers, in the summer

or even January when we were linked, but he will now, and another chance has been lost.
