Yilmaz’s future with the Rangers.

Following Galatasaray’s 4-2 Turkish Cup victory over Bandirmaspor on Tuesday, coach Okan Buruk reiterated his

intention to bring in a new left-back before the transfer market shuts on February 9.

However, it seems that Ridvan Yilmaz will not be returning home after weeks of conjecture. Not yet, at least not yet.

Even if there was a £2 million difference between what Galatasaray was willing to pay and what Rangers were

asking, they were still in talks with the former Besiktas left-hander as of last week. However,

it seems that they have now focused on a different option.

Galatasaray move looks dead for Ridvan Yilmaz

Derrick Kohn, a left-sided full-back for Hannover, a lower division team in Germany, is reportedly scheduled to go to

Istanbul tonight, according to Sporx. Galatasaray and Kohn have reached an agreement; Kohn’s contract includes a

£3 million buyout clause, and he will join on loan. Several competing Turkish publications corroborate Sporx’s assertions as well.

So Yilmaz’s 2-1 victory over Aberdeen over the week will not actually be his last game wearing Rangers colors.

The small defensive southpaw has been a shining light at Ibrox during the Philippe Clement era. His all-action,

explosive performance against Neil Warnock’s Dons was typical of a man who has been preventing Borna Barisic from starting recently.

Impressive in latest Rangers win

Jose Cifuentes is one player who is still able to leave Ibrox outside of the Scottish transfer window.

The £1.2 million summer acquisition from LAFC, who was so unimpressive during his brief tenure in Glasgow, is

ready to return to the United States with Cruzeiro, despite the fact that the head coach of the Brazilian team was

reticent to remark on the Cifuentes trade a few days ago.
