who arrived at Ibrox in August for £1.2 million as one of ex-boss Michael Beale’s key recruits from Major League Soccer outfit Los Angeles FC –

with the Londoner anticipating the midfielder would push his side to the “next level”.

He failed to impress the Belgian,

and his final game for the Light Blues came in a 3-2 Europa League win over Real Betis in December,

when he was forced to leave at halftime.

This happened only days after he was sent off against Dundee at Ibrox.

The 24-year-old has joined Cruzeiro with a 12-month contract.

However, they have the option to purchase the midfielder,

who signed a four-year contract when he came in the Scottish Premiership.

After departing the club,

Cifuentes broke his silence on the move with a three-word social media post.

He claimed on Instagram that he was ready to “reset and go”.

Jefte was poised to join Ibrox in the last days of the recent transfer window,

but a late collapse of a deal meant he would stay on loan at APOEL Nicosia until the end of the 2023/24 season.
