Jose Cifuentes in blunt Rangers goodbye as misfit crowns Cruzeiro loan with 3 word send off
After leaving Rangers for a loan stint at Cruzeiro in the Brazilian Serie A, Jose Cifuentes sent out a direct message.
After only signing for £1.2 million in August, the Ecuadorian was shipped out by Philippe Clement. Michael Beale, the former boss, had hoped the midfield player would take his team to the “next level” and had signed him from Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles FC. After failing to make an impression on the Belgian, he was forced to leave the game at halftime during the Light Blues’ 3-2 Europa League victory over Real Betis in December. That was only a few days after he was sent off at Ibrox against Dundee.
Now, the 24-year-old has committed to a 12-month stint with Cruzeiro. Nonetheless, they possess the option to purchase the midfield player, who signed a four-year contract upon joining the Scottish Premiership.
Cifuentes broke his quiet about the move on social media after leaving the club, posting a direct three-word message. He announced that he was prepared to “reset and go” in an Instagram post. Cifuentes has only made 20 Rangers appearances overall this season across all competitions. Though he was unable to find the net, he did manage two assists.
