According to commentator Kenny Miller, Rangers could be in for fresh Ibrox contract discussions with John Lundstram.

The Sky Sports analyst made the assertion during Rangers’ Scottish Premiership match against Aberdeen on Tuesday (6 February).

Lundstram began the game under the lights at Ibrox and has now made 35 appearances in all competitions this season.

“He’s arguably the most pivotal player since Clement came in,” Miller stated live on Sky Sports Football (6 February, 8.22pm). “He’s been practically an ever-present since the Belgian took over the position, and his performance level has been quite steady.

“Being out of contract at the end of the season, it wouldn’t surprise me if new contract talks began. I think  he would be a player that Clement would definitely want to have available to him next season.”

Rangers to initiate Lundstram talks?

Rangers cannot afford a recurrence of last summer,

when players like Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent left Ibrox at the conclusion of their contracts.

The Scottish Premiership giants not only lost two crucial players, but they did so for free.

With a proper system in place, they could have either retained them at Ibrox or sold them for a large fee when their contracts expired.

Lundstram is now nearing the end of his contract with the club, which will almost certainly be reviewed in the near future.

The midfield ace has been outstanding under Philippe Clement this season,

and would certainly be a major loss for the Belgian if he was to move on this summer.

Given his success both on and off the pitch at Ibrox thus far, the man in the dugout may have the Lundstram matter under control.
