Rangers predicted XI vs Aberdeen: Philippe Clement makes 4 changes
Glasgow Rangers could acquire a psychological advantage over Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title battle by the end of Tuesday night.
Philippe Clement’s team, who defeated Livingston handily at the weekend,
are currently three points behind the Hoops after losing at Aberdeen.
The Pittodrie charges are the opponents at Ibrox this evening, and because the Gers have the highest goal difference in the top flight,
all three points will knock Celtic out of first place before their game against Hibs tomorrow.
Clement made six changes to the team for Saturday’s victory over a struggling Livi,
as he tries to distribute minutes evenly across the first-team players.
We believe the Belgian will make four changes for the Aberdeen test,
which has lately signed 75-year-old Neil Warnock as manager until the end of the season.
Clement announced at his Monday news conference that Ryan Jack and Leon Balogun will be unavailable to play;
who will fill in for the pair, and who will be rotated?
Fabio Silva, or Cyriel Dessers?
That is the question everyone is asking right now.
Striker Cyriel Dessers scored three goals in his last three Rangers games [Soccerbase]
before being replaced by Fabio Silva against Livingston.
The £35 million kid on loan from Wolves capitalized on his opportunity with an outstanding performance
that included his first goal in a Light Blue jersey.
Aberdeen are a physical club, and with Neil Warnock in charge,
you know he’ll do everything he can to frustrate Rangers tonight and get a victory.
As a result, Dessers may be the better fit than Silva,
who could benefit from coming off the bench if the game remains tight in the second half.
Meanwhile, with Jack and Balogun out, Philippe Clement should consider Nicolas Raskin and John Souttar as replacements.
The only other change will be Ridvan Yilmaz replacing Borna Barisic. The latter received a surprise start against Livingston,
but we do not believe his performance was adequate to warrant a similar opportunity tonight.
The Croatian is poised to play a bigger role against Ayr United in the Scottish Cup this weekend.
