As they get ready to play Aberdeen at Ibrox this evening, Glasgow Rangers are back in action in the Scottish Premiership.

The Light Blues will be looking to build on their recent winning streak of five games across all competitions when

they take on the Dons, who this week recruited English manager Neil Warnock.

Just before the former manager of Cardiff and Huddersfield entered the building on Saturday, they managed to draw

1-1 with Celtic, and they will be aiming for consecutive Old Firm victories.

Conversely, Philippe Clement’s team enters this match fresh from a resounding 3-0 victory against Livingston, who

are currently at the bottom of the league, over the weekend.

Goals from Fabio Silva, who scored his first for the club, Rabbi Matondo, and Todd Cantwell sealed all three points

for the Scottish giants at Ibrox.

With games coming thick-and-fast at the moment, the Belgian head coach may look to rotate his squad in order to

avoid burnout and to keep players fresh and ready for action when called upon.

Now that the Light Blues have managed to hang onto Ridvan Yilmaz during the January transfer window, the former

AS Monaco manager needs to unleash him right away alongside Matondo on the left flank.

How close Ridvan Yilmaz came to leaving Rangers

All through the month of January and until the deadline day at the beginning of February, there was constant

speculation over the Turkey international’s future in Glasgow.

In late January, there was a story suggesting Yilmaz had reached a personal agreement with Galatasaray, a Turkish powerhouse, in anticipation of a potential return to his own country.

That followed the Gers’ earlier rejection of a Super League team offer. According to reports, they made an attempt to

sign the left-back for a loan with a potential permanent transfer clause of roughly £3.4 million, but the Light Blues were not enticed to pay up.

The Daily Record revealed on deadline day that the club turned down another bid from Galatasaray as they were not

willing to budge on their £4m valuation of the full-back.

At one point, Yilmaz was also considering moving to Italy, however it was reported that he rejected a January offer to

play for Serie A team Hellas Verona.

Ultimately, judging by the reports, the intriguing defender never really got close to leaving Rangers during the

January transfer window.

The Scottish behemoths rejected all offers, no club medical was finished, and no contract to play for another team

was signed. Though Yilmaz seemed eager to join the Turkish giants had they managed to work out a deal with the

Germans, it was only interest and rejected offers from Verona and Galatasaray.

Whatever the circumstances, Rangers still have him in the lineup and may choose from him until the earliest

possible summer transfer window.

Clement must now make use of the 22-year-old whiz and unleash him from the start against Aberdeen this evening to combine with Matondo on the left flank.

Matondo’s exciting displays for Rangers

The Wales international now has a fantastic chance to secure a regular place in the starting lineup for the Gers in the

upcoming weeks thanks to Abdallah Sima’s injury.

In the Premiership match against Hibernian, the former Manchester City starlet made an impressive impression by

playing brilliantly on the wing.

As the table above illustrates, Matondo seized his opportunity to shine, turning in a superb performance as a creator

that included setting up Cyriel Dessers’ goal in the 3-0 victory.

The 23-year-old wizard was then added as a late substitute in the 1-0 victory over St. Mirren before to being selected

in the starting lineup for Saturday’s match against Livingston.

In the Gers’ 3-0 victory last Saturday, Matondo once again stole the show with two well-executed dribbles on the left wing and a fantastic goal.
