The football finance expert admitted that the Champions League spot for finishing top in Scotland is a huge

incentive, with a guaranteed £17.1million on the line.

He exclusively told Ibrox News, “There is no doubt about it—it is huge financially.”

“It’s the differentiator in Scottish football; it’s opened up a bit now that first place is a guaranteed group stage spot.

We know that, given the competition’s current distribution mechanisms, it’s worth at least €20 million [£17.1 million] to Rangers or Celtic.”

Participation fees and additional home matchdays, as well as how to best utilize them and the associated business

opportunities, are the sources of that. Along the road, there are extra payouts for picking up a few victories in the

group stages, so it can get very profitable. Of course, the stage that places

you in European football just expands the market even more.

“Absolutely huge for either of those two clubs, as we say, at the minute it’s either one or the other, I think that’s fairly

clear given the nature of Scottish football and if Rangers can get themselves into

that position, the windfall from the Champions League is huge financially.”

Huge windfall at Ibrox.

Since the shift in Scotland, Rangers have had to make due with Champions League qualifications, but that might all change tonight if they can defeat Celtic.

Ibrox has really turned around under Philippe Clement, and John Bennett and the board would greatly benefit from

the guaranteed £17.1 million.

With new manager Neil Warnock taking over, Aberdeen won’t be an easy match, but the Bears should have no

trouble dispatching a failing team to win the title.

In other Rangers news, there is now one requirement that must be met in order for the team to complete a permanent move in the summer.
