Rangers, one of the teams keeping an eye on the “fantastic” Tommy Conway as his contract at Ashton Gate expires, is one of the clubs Bristol City is anxious to sign.

A team known for developing potential, Bristol City, has paid eight-figure payments in the past for players like

Antoine Semenyo, Adam Webster, Lloyd Kelly, and Alex Scott, the highly-regarded midfield player who signed a £25

million contract to join AFC Bournemouth last summer.

But how those annoying contract negotiations turn out in the upcoming months will determine if they can demand a

similarly outrageous price for Tommy Conway.

According to Peter O’Rourke of Football Insider, there is interest in the English Premier League in addition to Ibrox.

Brentford, Wolves, and Nottingham Forest are among Conway’s supporters.

It makes sense that Bristol City wants to secure its valuable asset. Conway would have to sell for significantly less

than market value if new conditions could not be reached because their

present agreement expires in the summer of 2025.

Rangers eye Bristol City striker Tommy Conway

The technical director of Bristol City, Brian Tinnion, tells the BBC that Tommy Conway has a year left on his contract

in the summer. And we must make an effort to restrain him. We’ll put a lot of effort into that.

We’ve spoken with the agent in these chats. And (we desire) to speak with Tommy and have those discussions once

more. Tommy Conway should be under contract with the football team.

“He’s an incredible individual, a great player, a goal scorer, and a vital member of our team. Thus, starting now, we’ll

be putting in a lot of effort to get Tommy signed by the football team.

Conway, a Scotland under-21 international, has eight goals this year. One of those occurred in the FA Cup against

West Ham United, as Bristol City did what they have done many times in the contemporary era:

they sent a premier league team packing.

‘£6 or £7 million’

Conway has been compared to Leicester great Jamie Vardy despite his rangy 6 feet 1 inch size because of his

propensity for making precisely timed runs off the shoulder of the final defender.

“He is a talented boy,” Peter Grant, a 15-year veteran of Celtic’s Old Firm rivalry, said on Go Radio, implying that

even with Conway’s contract expiring, clubs north of the border would find it difficult

to come up with the kind of money Bristol City is demanding.

“It would be extremely expensive to pursue someone like Conway. You are discussing a sum of £6 or £7 million, and

that is only after two successful games. You’ve been on TV (the BBC coverage of the West Ham match). That’s what it turns into.

“This boy has talent.” A couple youngsters down in England are quite talented players. However, there’s no way

Scottish clubs could ever go close to them.
