Dallas Cowboys could replace Dan Quinn with former NFL head coach with 22 years of pro experience

You are probably aware by now that the Dallas Cowboys have parted ways with their defense coordinator of the last three seasons.

Dan Quinn has been promoted to head coach of the Washington Commanders after leading a scoring defense that ranks in the top ten.

It’s now necessary for Jerry Jones and the Cowboys to select a deserving successor.

The Cowboys contacted Zimmer this past week to schedule an interview for the open defensive coordinator position in Dallas,

according to NFL source Albert Breer.

In addition to having one of the top pass rushers in the NFL in Micah Parsons and a ball-hawking secondary with Trevon Diggs and Daron Bland,

Zimmer would inherit a very formidable defense if hired. Not to mention, there’s always a potential that Zimmer takes back the reins as head coach,

even if it’s just for a few weeks until the Cowboys find a more long-term replacement in the next offseason, given that Mike

McCarthy seems to be under fire every season.

In any case, the hire of a coach with 22 years of NFL defense-focused expertise, including eight years as head coach of the Minnesota Vikings,

would be a grave mistake for the Cowboys. In addition, Zimmer has a deep affinity for the Cowboys, so if hired,

he would spare no effort to ensure that his players are as ready as possible for kickoff.
