After agreeing to join the Pittsburgh Steelers as offensive coordinator this season after serving as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons for three years, Arthur Smith returned to his hometown.

Despite having many first-round offensive players, Smith’s tenure in Atlanta wasn’t great, and in 2024 he’ll join a young Steelers team in need of help.

Smith mentioned that Pittsburgh is a “perfect cultural fit” because of the Steelers organization’s history, despite the fact that he is no longer head coach.

Smith stated, “It’s such a unique opportunity to be able to work for an organization like the Pittsburgh Steelers,” as reported by ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.”It’s a perfect cultural fit for me, given the history and culture here and the chance to work with Mike Tomlin.

Kenny Pickett, a third-year quarterback, and a group of similarly inexperienced skill position players will suddenly be Smith’s teammates.
Pat Freiermuth, tight end, running backs Jaylen Warren and Najee Harris, and wide receivers George Pickens and Diontae Johnson.

It remains to be seen if Smith can turn the Steelers around. Even though Pickett and the other quarterbacks have played inconsistently over the past two years, they have shown promise.

Smith, along with quarterback Ryan Tannehill and running back Derrick Henry, turned the Titans into one of the NFL’s greatest offenses.

Though his staff in Pittsburgh will be marginally inferior, maybe the culture he mentioned will produce a better environment than the one he established in Atlanta and abandoned in Tennessee.
