Cowboys playoff exit described by Micah Parsons as “completely embarrassing”
Micah Parsons, a standout player for the Dallas Cowboys, just received recognition as an NFL Defensive Player of the Year finalist after an incredible season.
But neither Parsons nor his Dallas Cowboys colleagues will recall the season that way. Rather, the Dallas Cowboys of 2023 will be defined by their playoff defeat to the Green Bay Packers.
The Cowboys were heavy favorites over the Green Bay Packers going into the game. However, the Packers emerged victorious in the NFC Wild Card Round, winning 48–32 after jumping out to an early 28–0 lead on the road. The 12-5 season of the Dallas Cowboys was a complete bust for the third season in a row.
For all those connected to the Dallas Cowboys, who haven’t made it to the NFC Championship Game since 1996, that is getting old. Include Micah Parsons in that roster.
Micah Parsons had this to say on his podcast, The Edge With Micah Parsons. It’s that you [the Cowboys] lose the way you do and at home,” Parsons said on his “The Edge with Micah Parsons” podcast on Wednesday. “We had talked about how much [better] we had played at home, how much it stood for us to be at home and then to go like that at home was completely embarrassing and unacceptable. I couldn’t even look at that loss or feel any type of way because of how embarrassed I felt It took me a while to even show my face in public. I disappeared completely.
In that game, Parsons also vanished since it was difficult for him to get off to a good start against Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love due to the early deficit. He had no sacks and only two tackles.
That shouldn’t take away from his outstanding regular season. Parsons led the league in pressures, recorded 14 sacks, and added 20 tackles for loss. With only four years under his belt and no age limit, Parsons should soon be able to take home a massive, possibly record-breaking salary.
However, I’m confident that his first priority is helping the Dallas Cowboys win the Super Bowl.
