On Saturday, Tigers head coach Eliah Drinkwitz said that Missouri has selected Corey Batoon for the position.

Batoon takes over for Blake Baker,

who accepted the same position at LSU following Missouri’s 11-2 regular season—which included a Cotton Bowl triumph. Batoon, 32,

was the defensive coordinator for the Jaguars for the previous three seasons while attending South Alabama.

When it came to yards allowed per game (313.2) in 2023, Batoon’s defense at South Alabama was No. 15 in the country.

In five of those contests, the Jaguars gave up 10 points or less. Among them was a triumph over Oklahoma State, 33-7.

Corey has participated in teams that have won championships at every stage of his career.

He is an accomplished coach with a track record of success who can dissect situations and impart excellent knowledge of the game.

Prior to taking up coaching, Batoon spent two seasons as a football player at Long Beach State,

where he graduated in 1991 with a degree in political science.
