NCAA is looking into Tennessee for NIL infractions.
According to sources who spoke with Sports Illustrated, the University of Tennessee is the focus of yet another NCAA investigation into possible “major” rule infractions, writes Forde.
“The case examines name, image, and likeness (NIL) benefits for athletes and spans multiple sports.”
Forde claims that although the university and NCAA declined to comment further on the specifics of the probe, they confirmed its existence.
Only a year has passed since the football team’s more than 200 offenses were penalized, prompting this investigation.
You have to imagine that the NCAA might take serious action against the Vols if anything noteworthy is discovered during this second investigation of the institution.
One of the first universities in the new NIL period to fully embrace the group movement was Tennessee.
The absence of express NCAA rules and regulations has been a point of contention for many, but perhaps this will force the body to establish explicit guidelines for the new era of collegiate athletics.
In any case, it does not appear good to hear about yet another NCAA probe following the Jeremy Pruitt scandal and the other transgressions.
